April 2 & 3, 2016
Come on up to the beautiful town of Julian nestled up in the mountains east of San Diego for our first annual Lilac Festival!
The event takes place Saturday and Sunday, April 2 & 3, from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm both days.
It will be a fun weekend of activities including hayrides, candle dipping, tomahawk throwing, archery, face painting, pony rides, bird house making, music and dancing!
Our very own Jesse Cross, dance caller and music man extraordinaire, will be playing live during various times to lead any willing kids and adults through the funnest square dance hoedown hootenanny you ever did see!
There will also be local and unique merchants to shop from!
Walk through organic lilac groves and enjoy the sweet smells and beautiful views of the surrounding Julian area!
And, if they don't bloom too early, we should have some beautifully fragrant lilac stems available for purchase! Potted lilacs are available to take home and plant!
This old mining town has attracted people from all over because of its rich history, old time rustic charm, and of course the pies.
Back in the 1960's, the area that is surrounding Fort Cross was famous for their lilacs. It's our goal to bring that same excitement and experience back to the area! With a few acres of beautiful lilac groves, we look forward to the possibilities!
There are many friendly and fun stops nearby as well. Julian Station is right across the street. A great place to stop for organic tacos, Julian Hard Cider, and a mixture of small shops with unique and special treasures.
If you're feeling like a nice slice of pizza, Wynola Pizza is the place for you! For an upscale, sit down cuisine, try Jeremy's on the Hill. All of these food choices are just a few minutes walk from Fort Cross.
The Barn, a beautiful vintage and rustic antique store nearby that is worth a visit if only to stop and see the tasteful displays of items.
Julian Mining Company is also across the street where kids of all ages can try their hand at real gold panning and gem sluicing!
And don't forget about Mom's Pies within walking distance of the Lilac Festival. One of the places that's made Julian famous is this house of pies. Delicious!
Lilac Festival Activity Package: For $8 a person, you will get to hop on the hayride and enjoy the views on a scenic nature loop, try your skill with some tomahawk throwing, and dip your very own lilac themed candle the old fashioned way!
Group discounts available for organizations and a family of 4 or more!
Individual pricing for archery, face painting, bird house making, and pony rides vary depending on merchant.
Although this event is perfect for couples and families, we also welcome large groups like Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, church groups, etc. Ask about group discounts!
